Common use cases

How it compares

Compared to Miro and Mural — those are heavyweight enterprise tools with persistent boards, infinite features, and account requirements. Freedrawboard is instant: no signup, password-protected rooms. For ongoing team workspaces use Miro; for quick collaborative sketches use freedrawboard. Compared to Excalidraw, freedrawboard's real-time sync works without an Excalidraw+ subscription. Compared to Google Jamboard (discontinued in 2024), freedrawboard fills the no-account quick-collab gap.

Privacy

Drawings are relayed through Supabase Realtime but never stored on any database. The password is the room identity — without it, the URL leads to a different empty channel. Local board copies live in your browser and persist across refreshes; export to PNG to keep a permanent copy.

Frequently asked questions

Is freedrawboard.app really free?

Yes. 100% free with no signup, no ads, and no usage limits. Create as many boards as you want.

How does collaboration work?

Create a board to get a strong auto-generated password. Anyone with that password can join the same board from any device. Drawings sync in real-time.

Are my drawings stored on a server?

No. Drawings are relayed through Supabase Realtime but never written to any database. Your local copy lives in your browser's localStorage.

Can I keep my drawings permanently?

Yes. Click Export to save the canvas as a PNG to your device. The browser-stored copy persists across refreshes for the same device, but for cross-device or long-term keeping, export is the way.

How is freedrawboard different from Miro or Excalidraw?

Miro requires accounts and is heavyweight. Excalidraw is excellent for solo drawing but real-time collaboration requires a paid subscription. Freedrawboard is instant — no account, password-protected rooms.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. Touch drawing works on phones and tablets. Installable as a Progressive Web App for offline use of single-user mode.
